Scene iv: Household

IMG_3327.jpg

These two items, a puzzle and sticky notes, are ordinary household items.  Yet when Shakespeare is added, they become a subtle riff on his canon.  The "Much Ado about Nothings" is a twist on the similarly titled comedic play, "Much Ado About Nothing."  This play is written in prose, in contrast to many of Shakespeare's other works, and the future contents written on these sticky notes may be considered "nothing."  The puzzle is based on a painting by artist James Christensen, using as its title a line from Shakespeare's monologue in the play "As You Like it."  For those who recognize the melee of Shakespeare's characters here pictured on stage surrounding the playwright himself, the juxtaposition of unlikely characters on one stage together blends his canon and gives truth to the title phrase.
